Para's Movie Reviews. This time, Fantasic Four...sigh.
I'm pretty sure you all know the story of this one. They did it a little different in the movie, so I'll run off the movie plot...
Four normal people are sent up into space to observe once in a million solar storm take place. These people are Reed Richards (some random dude), a genius who freaks out even the most intelligent men. Sue Storm (Jessica Alba), a personal assistant to Victor Von Doom. Then there's Johnny Storm (another random, yet cool dude), a libido-driven thrill seeker who's the pilot of the mission. Finally, there's Benjamin Grimm (the bald guy from The Shield), Reed's bodyguard and best friend. Also, unlike the comic story, there was a 5th passenger in this mission, Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon), the head of a company who owns the Space Station they'll all be observing the storm from. After they dock with the Space Station, the shit hits the fan, and the solar storm approaches far more quickly than anyone anticipated. As a result, all 5 members of the crew are bombarded with Cosmic-Level radiation before they can get the shielding of the Space Station up and running. After they return to Earth, each member of the crew finds out their DNA is permanently altered. Reed is now Mr Fantastic, and has now what is essentially a rubber body. Sue is now the Invisible Woman, who can (gasp) turn invisible, and use the same power to form force fields, etc. Johnny is now the Human Torch, a being capable of flight and who can turn himself into a Human Fireball. Ben is now The Thing, a super-strong creature, and has been the only one of the crew to be permanently transformed. This is one of the main stories of the movie...why can the other 3 turn their powers on and off, and why is Ben permanently stuck with his, etc... Something of note, is that Victor Von Doom also came back changed. His skin transmutes into a metallic alloy, much like the shielding that was designed to protect them on the Space Station. As a result, Victor becomes "Dr Doom". I say this is of note, because in the comic Doom was never anything more than just another genius. Had no powers, etc...and certainly wasn't on the mission with the other four. Nyeh, this movie was alright. I give it 2 1/2 out of 5 (Electric Jantard). |
Seef an Electric Jantard is only worth half marks!!!1111!!
