Random Reboot

I just installed a radeon 9700 non-pro and now when I play wc3 it'll reboot at some random time. Sometimes it won't sometimes it does, but it's always in WC3 never in anything else, it didn't crash in 3dmark2003 and doesn't crash when I play SOF2. Nothing's been overclocked. It's fucking annoying. I thought my PSU couldn't handle it but my 5v line is 4.97 at idle. So I dunno what's going on. I tried different RAM and that didn't work either.

I played with the settings and after putting the RAM settings on aggressive timings it would always reboot as soon as I loaded WC3. Put them on By SPD and it's okay now, but I'm gonna keep testing it. BTW the chip is a Kingmax. This only started when I put the card in though, never happened before.

Just did it AGAIN, so now I've put Command lead-off to 2T instead of Auto, see how that goes.

EDIT: Didn't work either.

Also, my motherboard is the ASUS P4S8X-X, maybe that's the problem. I know it's crap, but I needed a temporary solution until those Springvales or whatever come out.

so only happens in WAR3 but no other games?
weird

DISABLE 8x AGP and FORCE IT TO 4x

That should fix the problem

Gelf 15-04-2003 02:40 PM

I did that already

Domokun 15-04-2003 05:51 PM

disable AGP fastwrites too

Gelf 16-04-2003 10:20 AM

I did, formatted and it hasn't rebooted yet

Domokun 16-04-2003 07:52 PM

In that case its' all good

Are you at the latest patch? One of the patches fixed Radeon 9700 problems if I recall correctly.
By the way, dig dig dig =]

it just fucking did it again so reformat didn't do it

Found it when looking for what trouble I'll be getting myself in for when I get my 9700 pro :)
