HERO Gona

Sorry everyone but I must depart on a fabulous Journey to see the wild and forbidding Mothballs. That’s right because of badly timed events I must leave my home of 17 years and live for 4 horrendous weeks at my grand parents place :fu: (NOOOOoooooooooo:eek: ). It will be a true survivor, much like living in the Stone Age. e.g. No Internet, No Computer, No Cable TV, No Double Bed.

A living hell.:diethx:

So I will be out of contact with you all and be unable to play Friday nights for around a month. But never fear I shall return.

Be good and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do ( there isn’t much I wouldn’t do ):D

Cookiemonster 05-11-2003 10:34 PM

try lawn bowls while you are there....

its good fun ive found... seriously!

[zero] Hero 05-11-2003 11:58 PM

ya i know

'been there done that'

anywayz i leave sunday so i'll cya ya all in a month.

[zero] Evidence 06-11-2003 03:36 AM

NOOOO!!!! why?! WHY?!?! WHY MUST YOU LEAVE US?!?! It's that other man isn't it hero?! you've allways been cheating on me in the past! i just never know it would come to this!!!

And on a seriouse note, Im gonna miss you mate *hugs, kiss, bags, shotgun*

we're going to miss you, even more so since you make up 1/4th of the friday fun night server...

[zero]Remorse 06-11-2003 02:28 PM

yer hero, we sure r gonna miss u on both tue and fri nights

i won't be able to play he_glass until u return u know, cos it's not quite the same w/o u :(

but a month is ok, we can survive - but what about YOU!!! rotfl

u really will be living in the stone age for a month - still it's great of your grandparents to put u up, and it could be a really good experience for both u and for them - grandparents could be really to learn from at this stage of your life.... especially grandads.... i never had a grandad, and i always felt so ripped off! i did have a grandad-in-law when i was married to my ex, and that was great indeed, but he was in that distant land called brisbane ;) and we only got to see him once a year :(

i hope u have a good time tho hero, and we'll keep your seat warm for you :D

see u friday night tho i hope - for your last time for a few weeks :P

[zero] Hero 06-11-2003 05:48 PM

i'll be there with bells on rem

as for grand perants there away traveling around australia so i'll be alone :P

one downer is i miss out on schoolies week  i might have to do some car poolin around the place :P

[zero] Hero 08-11-2003 08:34 AM

all well so long all i'm off. but it looks like i might be able to set up my pc in the room we are using to store furniture. not sure what taht means but i'll cya all soon (fingers crossed)

Lego 09-11-2003 08:43 PM

Wait that not so bad, place to yourself or are you living with your parents there? :P

[zero] Hero 10-11-2003 08:37 AM

i'm living with my perants there. its not so bad now i was able to set up my pc in the one room in the house which isn't getting renavated. and i run a LONG network cable so i got the net :)

Dark_Flash 10-11-2003 09:33 PM

is the network cable so long that it connects to your normal spot in your house?

[zero] Hero 11-11-2003 08:56 AM

lol not really i'm only in the next room. so its only like 3M long.

[zero]Remorse 28-11-2003 12:44 PM

that's not a long network cable :P

in my current setup, my PC's r on the end of a 70 metre long ethernet to the cable router at the other end of the house! lol.... it works :D

[zero] Evidence 01-12-2003 02:59 PM

Geez, rem, I would of thought with a network cable that long you would loose heaps of data Integrity?!

I thought that cables had a maximum lenght of RJ45 cable was limited to like 25 meters?! or are you using Coax? (spelling)

Conclusion... It must be a very good quality cable with extra sheilding :)

Slaide 01-12-2003 06:30 PM

100m for ethernet cable

Slaide

TISM 02-12-2003 01:16 AM

Depends if it's 10baseT, 10base2, 10base5, 10baseF, 10base36 . . . . If your talking Ethernet-802.3 ;)
And TISM's question of the day for the helpdesk nerdz is "What is the maximum cable length for 802.11G?"

[zero] Evidence 02-12-2003 02:17 PM

802.11G - thats wireless smart-ass :D

the signal it's self can go up to appox. 10km away (only with sat. dish).

The signal carring cabel (from antenna to in-put device) can be up to 9m away, but only for good quality cable.

[zero] Evidence 02-12-2003 02:19 PM

oh and after that 9m's you need an signal strenghthener, that will give you another 9m's to play with. you could allso daisy chan them, to get the desired length

[zero]Remorse 02-12-2003 07:42 PM

i think the cable i used has a max length of 100m like slaide said, but the ethernet standard for coax is about 500m i think - whatever it is, it's HUGE! and evidence, no i don't have any data problems with my LAN - you've played here before :P (ok, 10mbps is slow, but it works!)

when the next gen of wireless comes out (the gen with proper security) i may consider using it to ensure my LAN isn't slowing my cable connection at all.... just depends on money :D.... then again..... fibre to the home..... mmmmmmm..... :D :D :D

[zero] Hero 02-12-2003 08:00 PM

hey has anyone done a degree in network administration :P ?
(i am serious i am hoping to do that next year maybe then i can fully understand what ya all on about lol) rotfl

oreo 02-12-2003 08:12 PM

Working in IT, I'm sure it's interesting some of the time. But my god, I wouldn't want to do it.

[zero]Remorse 03-12-2003 12:45 PM

lol hero, u can't get a degree in network admin.... u get a bachelor of engineering, or science, or info tech, that sort of thing.... network admin is v narrow - maybe u can get a certificate.... like a Novell CNE (Certified Network "Engineer" - which really isn't an engineer at all tho :P)

degrees take 3 to 4 yrs to get, certificates take maybe 1yr or less

u could prolly get a "Dummy's Guide to Networking" or something to learn quickly, or tinker on your own home setup :D

[zero] Hero 03-12-2003 03:46 PM

sorry i didn't say the actually name and its not a degree its a diploma
diploma of Information Technology - Network administration

[zero]Remorse 04-12-2003 01:30 PM

lol - so you'd be a DIT? a little while ago u were a ZIT :P rotfl soz, sick humour i know ;)

[zero] Hero 04-12-2003 09:07 PM

:P :spam:

Slaide 04-12-2003 11:42 PM

Hey what's wrong with being a Net admin?

Slaide

[zero] Hero 05-12-2003 12:46 AM

apsolutly nothing.
so is anyone in that field of work ?

[zero]Remorse 09-12-2003 12:45 PM

nothing wrong with it at all slaidey - net admin is a great job :D (plus we have quite a few net admin ppl in zero, and one in brissie *hint to hero*)
:P

[zero] Hero 09-12-2003 03:53 PM

lol hmmmm.
well did any of you do any degrees or anything like that then ?

[zero]Remorse 10-12-2003 12:59 PM

I often do 360 degrees on my chair - it's fun.... weeeeee!!!

Dark_Flash 10-12-2003 09:11 PM
