web hosting, wtf?
 

ok, im a noob at everything on internet but games pretty much. Its probably a stupid question, but how the hell do u get ur web hosting up?

my subdomain thingy is
csclanftp.ozforces.com

and when i try to go to that it comes up with some crap like it isnt there or something, it says 'In order to log into your account, use the following FTP details' and i tried putting all them into the thing and none of them worked :bash: help me, :confused:

First of all, the Ozclan clan webhosting use subdomain.ozclans.com - Not ozforces.com

Where are you signing up? Have you signed up with clan webhosting?

So you have applied for a clan, I have approved it. I assume you got the email telling you how to create your webhosting account?

You probably already created the FTP account. You will now need to login using the FTp details that were shown to you.

yeh, i still dont get it, the next screen says

Server: ftp.ozclans.com
Username: Br00zwah csclanftp
Password: <your forum password>

how am i suppose to login using this?

Do you have an FTP client, or know what FTP is?

FTP = File Transfer Protocol

if ftp client is a program like cute ftp or something, no i dont have one, but i can go download one now

Yeah you will need a ftp program to upload your files :P

If you are using dreamweaver MX to make your site it already has ftp intergrated in it.

Make sure you name your first page index.html so you can see something at your address when you upload it.

yay, i know how to upload files now, you have both been a great help to me, thanks. one last thing, can i set it so ppl can just download off it from the web?? if so, how ;)

Just get ppl to point there broswer to your files.

eg. http://csclanftp.ozforces.com/yourfile.zip

If its has an extension that IE can handle it will open in the broswer, for eg .html and .doc would just be displayed.
