Free/cheap VOIP!

At last there's a free/cheap Voice over IP client that allows you to talk over a net connection! http://www.skype.com/

OK, this is like roger wilco or gamevoice if the party you're calling is also on skype, so you get a free voice connection to the other person so you can talk to each other via headsets, and the quality is good - nothing new there.

BUT the good part is that you can dial someone's phone number from the client and their phone will ring - and it's CHEAP! It costs you 3 aussie cents per minute to talk to people anywhere in Aus, or UK, or USA and some other places. For other countries the price is higher. So you call someone and talk to them on your handset, and they talk on their telephone and u pay 3 cents per minute!!!!

Yay! Cheap overseas calls now, and no setup or monthly costs

The costs as far as I can see are you have to buy 10 pounds of credit (which amounts to about 10 hours of talk time) and if you don't make a call on the service you lose the credit after 6 months of inactivity - so make a billable call at least every 6 months to keep the account alive. Pretty good hey!

there's heaps of groovy stuff around that I don't use - doesn't mean I can't share the knowledge about it with others does it

slaide and i used it last night while playing cs, and it was soooo gooood!!! Very clear, and pretty easy to hear the other person during normal play, except during the heat of a firefight - but so much easier and nicer than in game comm's. I really like it!!!

plus, u should hear slaide doing a xena war cry - i found it VERY sexy!!! i lost my concentration for quite a long time. Indeed I'm still fantasising about it... gee slaide lucky you're married AND in a different state!

there's lots of problems with telemarketers

in relation to skype? wow that's an interesting question! lol - fancy getting a skype call from someone in UK offering cheap roof restoration? or perhaps more appropriately offering you some software deal - cool!

if it becomes a problem, you can block calls to only those on your friends list

i haven't used the msn audio thing - but i can say you'll be impressed by skype.... i'm a fan of it now!

it does

but i do notice it doesn't monitor people's statuses correctly, ie. when someone comes on or drops and can take a long time for the change to take affect on your client, but that's all i know that's wrong with it
