Battlefield 1942

Anyone tried Battlefield 1942 Demo?
Its a great concept. You can shoot, drive, fly, etc..
Not many good servers avail, and a few glitches in game - but good fun.

Yeah It's definately a great concept. What Team Fortress 2 should have been

Does have a few(lot) glitches though - and netcode needs improvement. But it's just that good a design u can put up with it to a degree.

If they can fix a few things it's a definate buy for me. Especially since it covers all 4 ww2 theatres with vehicles from all of them. Planes need joystick control though

For those who haven't played it, some of the vehicles involve multi-player interaction. eg. TANKS = 1 player drives the tank and operates the cannon, another player hops on board and operates the Machinegun mounted on the top. The APC incorporates 1 driver, 1 machine gunner, and carries 4 soldiers.

I can picture this scene . . . . .
WHC boys pack into an APC and reek havoc by tearing around the maps shooting at anything that moves (red-neck QLD style). occasionally screeching to a halt, piling out of APC, gunning down all and sundry, piling back in to APC and hauling arse across the landscape again.

Very similar to Operation Flashpoint (which is fuckin awesome) but it's set in WWII.

Worked out the trick to them. Barely a plane has got by me now


The planes are fairly simple to fly once you get the hang of them. It's very hard to line up for strafing runs though, all those palm trees are dangerous, as are the masts on the aircraft carrier.


Could be the CS toppler! (hopes so ). As all the public servers in oz are packed 24/7. Considering it's a bit buggy as a game and needs improvement in a few areas, imagine how it will be once it's perfected

Dice is working on a patch for when it's released (early september i think). So should be great.

Some stalingrad action would be shit hot As long as the stukas screech as they dive bomb!
