DD state of play

my ICQ as well as Thau's and several other ppls' is constantly clogged with messages about the DD server. I thought I'd post the current plot here for everyone's benefit to reduce the confusion.

1. HLDS, CS, TFC, metamod and admin mod have been re-installed from scratch. This was done due to server instability issues. I blatted all the other non-standard maps, sounds, mods, anything that was in the hlds_l directory. I will allow slow re-introduction of these when we work out what is causing the stability problems. I have given remorse permission to re-install the minimum mods needed for zero fun nite, then de-install/de-configure them afterwards. I will reboot the box after fun nites to ensure no memory leaks etc.

2. the dedicated CS server instance will no longer run. WHC doesn't officially play CS anymore, so we've decided to use the server resources in other ways that will benefit the ACA community.

3. AHL server now running on 27015. This will run more or less full-time in place of the CS server. We will review how popular it is and may change this in future. This server may be taken down to increase performance of other temporary servers (zero fun nite, WHC prac nites, etc) at other times

4. the booking server will still run for those ACA ppl who need to play CS, or want a server to war or prac on.

Don't bother whinging about any of the above, however I'd be open to feedback about the longer-term future of the server. My only thoughts at this stage are to improve the server if possible, improve the booking system, and maybe look into some new games such as bf1942, although I think the server would be under-specced for that.

Mud, could I get some stats on the server please. Ie: specifications, bandwidth capacity, and cost?

FYI to ZERO's, i've decided to have a bit of a rest from CS at the moment, and not running the fun nights - when i get some motivation and a heap of time i might try and reload and reconfigure the mods and maps for the fun nights - but it'll probably take a few weeks
