FFS... blew up another PSU...
Fucking strange.... computer was on when I got home (should have been off).
Nothing on the monitor, tried to manually power it off, no luck. Unplugged it, plugged it back in. Wouldn't turn on. Pulled the side of the case off, unplugged everything and just looked and smelled inside, all fine, just wouldn't turn on. Tried to short the power jumpers, no luck. The fucking thing was off and when I was just sitting on the bed looking at it.... *BOOM*!!!! It fucking blew itself and off went the cloud of smoke.... wtf???? The fucking thing was off! Geez... so I need a new PSU now... can another recommend one? I'm looking at Enermax at the moment... |

Capacitors in PSU's can store charge for up to 30 minutes I think ... depends on how many Fards they are ...
Anyway, I'd go an Antec Truepower 380W if you're on a budget, or a 480W if you're after topnotch shit that will last you a long time. |

So Antec would be the best brand to get? It's dual fan right? Can you recommend a good online place to order it?

Yeah, talk to Jener. I got mine (Antec 430W TruePower) from Jener a while ago for a very nice price.

Um - Definate Antec PSU ptech, they rock.
I have a 380 watt, take a look at my system, it draws a lot of power, and doesn't miss a beat. |

Cool, I ordered a 480watt Antec Truepower.... hopefully that does well.
Mind new bed room is fucking hot, it really turns into a furnace. And my PC is in my desk cupboard..... back of the cupboard has been taking off so the air can blow out unrestricted. I try to keep the cupboard door open so air can come in the front, however sometimes it closes by itself. If left on, could this cause the PSU to overheat or something? |

Yep, Antec's are very good PSU's.
ptech, it shouldn't be overheating, it should switch off if it gets to hot, or blow a fuse. Anyway, I don't think you'll have any problems with the Antec and if you do, it's a warranty issue. |

I'd say get a bit more air circulation or don't keep it too enclosed, computers don't like heat

PSUs idle. While the PC is off, there is still power to the PSU unless the wall is switched off.
Unfortunate. Mine is a Powmax 400W from EYO and no probs so far |
