General internet connection sharing with win98

Gday gang

Im setting up a home network with optus cable...

server machine has usb cable into it and ethernet adapter out to hub

hub serves a couple of computers running xp

network works fine for a couple of minutes after clients connect, but the server computer freezes without fail after a little bit

help?

nah mate its an old p300 with 32mb ram

i could put linux on but by shit that sounds scary and troublesome, having never seen linux before

umm, if you want no troubles linux, there is a REALLY basic routing version called "Cyote Linux", runs of a single floppy disk which is handy.

my p166 win98 server runs fine for ages. Just has a clean install with ICS installed.

try getting rid of all unrequired software from the server.

linux is a peice of piss if you just take it easy and follow the instructions

once set up you NEVER need touch it again too (unless you care heaps about security and watn to patch, but meh)
