I was there at the birth, when Hollywood (respect) and whatever name Tolerance used (it'll come to me......) I was in there TFC clan [TC] (The Collective - it lasted about 3 months lol) they asked me if I played CS, and I said yes, blah blah to cut it down, they trailed me and I was in... Then beta 4 came out and I pretty much stopped playing until I got a better computer (beta 4 was a resource hog) and I started again a month before the release of beta 5.

The clan was definatley created during the reign of beta 2. This was all in the lovely dubbly world of Wireplay, possibly the most secluded and fun community you could ever play games in. (It was closed you had to pay an access fee $20pm to dail up direct to wireplay [you got NO outside internet] $15pm if you were on Telstra Dailup (this was brought in shortly before WP became utter crap) or $10pm if you were on Telstra Cable (Hehe @ 100mb usage limits at the time).

So all in all I would say whenever beta 2 was around, possibly almost 4 years?

CS was created in 1999, so it wasn't 5 years.
I joined in beta 4, after remorse I think?

yep 1999 sounds about right.... either late 1999 or early 2000 - i started playing on Wireplay ($20 per month direct dial!!!!) in early 2000, and then I think it was about April 2000 when I joined ZERO..... and the legend has it (at least this is what Respect told me) that he and Tolerance (CARNAGE!!!! hahaha oro!!!) and the other legendary ZERO called Biscuit (aka Orourke) started ZERO together..... there were already a few more ZERO's when I joined.... sturger, beast, fear, and maybe some more..... Lego had joined by around October 2000 (my ICQ history goes back to November 2000... and Lego was already in it!).... and ZERO has continued to grow and mature to the crew we have today.... *GROUP HUG FOR ALL ZERO'S*

BTW, I bought Half-Life in September 1999.... after Mudhoney said it was a great game.... and I got into TFC on WP, then CS in early 2000, and I think CS was out in mid 1999..... not that long ago really... but AGES for a game (and a clan) to last eh!

Thanks Bly for the trip down memory lane..... as for exact date - I don't know, but I suspect it was Jan 2000

man i feel old now, thanks Hero!!!!

I first played "computer games" around the time when that mi-sex song of the same name came out - in the early 80's!!!! We had an old Atari 2600 (and before that I played "Mars Lander" on my dad's scientific, programmable calculator that had a red LED display ). Then I got an IBM compatible XT in 1987, and played things like "Ancient Art of War" - woohooooo!!!! (what a great game! - like TA except 10 years earlier!)

oh, and Lego - I own TWO copies of HL: one for my game PC, and one for my server PC - TWO LEGITIMATE CD keys

WHC started in Early September 1999 with TFC. Counter-strike became big on Wireplay around October-November (First beta of CS was Late June 1999 - Second around September). ZERO started around December 1999 as I remember Tolerance (Carnage) and Respect creating the clan about the time WHC started playing CS.

WHC and Zero would have to be 2 of the longest running clans. Mainly because we don't take it too seriously.

Been a lot of fun! The fact that I still haven't met a large portion of WHC and Zero is suprising after nearly 4 years But definiately have some great friendships, even with members who don't actively play anymore.

Thau, that is such a great post!!! /Rem hugs Thau

I agree with you so much - that's the stuff I love about ZERO and WHC Both clans are chock full of great people!

Shame that u haven't got to meet so many ppl in the flesh - but u r in Qld hehehe.... but still, like u say, u can have great friendships with ppl just over the net in what we do, even without meeting in the flesh. I personally have met most ZERO's, even those interstate - even in Qld (I met slaidey when I was up in gold coast at chrissie ), and it's great!

I’m not too sure about them WHC peeps Rem, they haven’t had the Slaide Cavity search, ouch!

Anyone we associate with must have that first; it’s in the zero rule book, page 10032, section 33a.

Right next to the section on: “How to frag the Biscuit boy.”

rofl bly!!!!

anyone who wants to drink some piss..... i can fill a bottle for u and u can drink it up if u want.... /Rem shudders at the thought!

I helped a local university last year by going on a research diet, and as part of that, at certain stages of the 13 week program, I had to collect all my piss in a bottle for analysis - that was ALL my piss over a 24 hour period!!!! 2 litres of piss - fresh, and in a clear plastic container - u still want to drink it?
