in Doom3, you can get to the console by hitting CTRL-ALT-~, then type "com_showfps 1" to show the fps you get..... i get 5-10 fps

i got a whopping 8.1 fps at 640x480 minimum detail

I get timedemo of 27 fps at 800x600 medium detail, on my Athlon XP 2000, GeForce4 Ti4400 (128MB), 512MB RAM, with my red mousepad.

It's playable.

p.s. I read that you should run timedemo twice to get a more comparable result on the second run. (Apparently it ensures that all of the textures are loaded).

p.p.s. What's a texture?

my mousepad is textured, and it's not red - that would explain why mine runs slower

well yeah, on the 2nd run thru the demo my fps jumped a whopping 4%, from 8.1 to 8.4 (3rd run thru was 8.4 again).... but i think it was really to do with the red spray paint..... i'm so stoked!

i got 16.4 fps first then second time round i got 18.7 fps on minimal settings. that was with my AMD Athlon XP 2000+, only 256mb ddr 2100 ram, a radeon 2100 gfx card with 128mb ram

I get 30fps on adverage with the following.

XP1900
1gig DDR ram
9600XT Raedon

You can tell my CPU is letting me down

I tried to do the timedemo thing and couldn't get it to work.

But I get about 40-45 fps average with

XP3200
512mb Ram
Geforce 4 Ti4800
